Elemica Client Implementation Wins SDCE100 Award
Leading Consumer Products Company Transforms Supply Chain with Unique Automated Vendor Managed Inventory Project
Wayne, PA– June 25, 2018 – Elemica, the leading Digital Supply Network for process manufacturing industries, has won the SDCE100 Award for a Vendor Managed Inventory project that helped a top five leading consumer products company manage their inventory replenishment system with railcars that transported raw materials across global borders.
“The prestigious Supply & Demand Chain Executive SDCE100 Awards recognize innovative ideas and solutions that guide industry leaders to maximize efficiency and profitability and Elemica is pleased to be selected for the fifth consecutive year,” said David Cahn, Director Global Marketing at Elemica. “As many global businesses still use manual business processes, automating these processes improve efficiencies while driving customer satisfaction and improve working capital.”
“First and foremost, we want to congratulate the winners of this year’s Top 100 for their successful and innovative projects, which serve as models to companies of all sizes for what is achievable in their supply chains,” says John Yuva, editor for Supply & Demand Chain Executive. “Regardless of company size, these projects are best-in-class examples of the types of efficiencies and bottom-line results that supply chain executives should be striving toward in their own operations. Our 2018 winners provide a roadmap for how to get there.”
The 2018 Supply & Demand Chain Executive 100 spotlights a few of the industry’s most successful and transformational projects that deliver value to enterprises across a range of supply chain functions. The supply chain projects featured in this awards program offer a forward-looking perspective for the industry on new opportunities designed to drive operational success.
The industry leading consumer product company needed to improve the performance of a 2-stage inventory replenishment system where railcars were used to transport containerized raw materials across international borders to a rail yard which served as intermediate storage. Elemica helped to smooth a reliable supply of materials to the plant by automating a closed loop system that would scale across plants, products and suppliers. Elemica’s VMI solution was configured to support monitoring inventory data from SAP. Most of the company’s suppliers were already connected to the Elemica Digital Supply Network, making it easier for them to receive orders, send confirmations and transmit ship notices. The results were a reduction of inventory on-hand, lower safety stock and reduced stock outs.
